Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

This treatment is mainly used for people who have either oedema or lymphedema. It is also used to treat swelling and bruising for people who have had surgery.

It can also be used for things such as detox, sluggishness, brain fog, recovery after colds and flu, post pregnancy swelling, skin tone and cellulite management.

It uses extremely light strokes and pumping movements to convey the fluid to the points of filtration and drainage, otherwise known as lymph nodes.

The lightness of the treatment is due to the lymphatic vessels sitting only 1mm under the skin.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a very accumulative treatment and even though results can be seen and felt after just one session, everyone is different in how their body responds.

For best results for post op manual lymphatic drainage, I always recommend a minimum of six treatments if you’ve had surgery, and following the aftercare advice very carefully.

For best results for a classic manual lymphatic drainage, I recommend a minimum of three treatments, carefully following the aftercare advice given, and also having a good look at your diet, as food intolerances, preservatives, and refined foods can often be a cause in gut issues, brain fog and illness.

I do two different types of MLD:

Classic MLD: which is used for the things mentioned above, such as fatigue, detox, brain fog, mild cases of swelling from pregnancy, travel or post colds and flu. This is also used for management of Lymphoedema.

Pre-Op MLD: which is used in preparation for surgery. It will help to clear away excess fluid and waste, making the surgery site easier and cleaner for the surgeon to operate on.

Post – Op MLD: which is used for people who have had surgery, and are struggling with oedema and bruising.

PLEASE NOTE:

Not everyone is suitable to have MLD and sometimes medical clearance is needed first.

For clients who have had surgery, a minimum of 6 treatments are needed.

Please kindly note that I am not a Lymphedema specialist. I can gladly assist you with MLD for lymphedema, but you have to also be under the care of a doctor or a lymphedema nurse who can assist you with proper bandaging. I can assist you with contacts for this.
