Good to know
In some cases, tight fascia may prevent the therapist from reaching deeper muscles.
When this happens, Myofascial Release may need to be done first to loosen the fascia before performing the deep tissue massage.
What to expect:
There is a common misconception that Deep Tissue Massage is extremely painful; while the pressure is firmer than a relaxation massage, it should never feel like torture.
Some areas of tension may feel a bit uncomfortable when pressure is applied, but the pressure can always be adjusted if the client is struggling with discomfort.
Perfect for you if you:
Have persistent muscle tension or knots
Experience restricted movement or stiffness
Sit for long periods or have posture-related pain
Exercise regularly and experience tight muscles
How the Treatment works:
The treatment begins with gentle stretching of the skin and Swedish massage techniques to warm up the muscles.
Once the muscles are prepared, deeper techniques using knuckles, thumbs and elbows are applied to reach the deeper layers of tissue and release areas of tension.
These techniques help break through tight fascia and release trigger points that cause discomfort and restricted movement.
